Block NSFW content on Reddit and X without blocking everything

You do not have to remove every useful community or account to reduce unwanted mature material. The strongest practical setup layers each platform's controls with feed cleanup and a separate boundary for moments when changing a setting feels tempting.

Start with the controls that already exist

Turn mature content off on Reddit
In Reddit Settings, open Preferences and keep “Show mature (18+) content” off. If you still need a less strict setup, keep mature media blurred—but remember that blur is a click-through warning, not a block.
Keep X's sensitive-media warning enabled
In Privacy and safety, do not enable the option to display media that may contain sensitive content. Turn video autoplay off as a second layer so unexpected media does not begin on its own.
Train both feeds away from the problem
Leave mature communities, mute triggering terms and accounts, and use “Not interested” consistently. These actions improve recommendations without removing access to unrelated topics.
Add a boundary outside the platform
Use a blocker that recognizes known mature communities, sensitive labels, and explicit destinations. Keep an emergency exception deliberate: write down the reason, wait before changing protection, and restore the boundary afterward.
